On 20th January, the Hydrogen Skills Academy hosted a successful Supply Chain Engagement Event for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub - a project being delivered bp Aberdeen Hydrogen Energy Ltd —a joint venture between bp and Aberdeen City Council.
This dynamic event attracted over 100 attendees representing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), end users, local authorities, and academic institutions, offering participants a comprehensive overview of the supply chain opportunities associated with this pioneering hydrogen project. The event provided a platform for open dialogue and proactive engagement, emphasising transparency and collaboration with supply chain organisations with discussions centred on the opportunities available to support Hydrasun, Robertson Group, and FES Group, following the announcement of initial contracts in August 2024.
Hydrasun CEO, Neil Thompson said “We've all been at lots of seminars looking at what the future of hydrogen is, but to see a real project coming to fruition and real opportunities for the supply chain, that's what makes the difference”
CEO of bp Aberdeen Hydrogen Energy Ltd, Dr Oliver Taylor also commented about the importance of the project for the region and its supply chain noting “The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub is more than just a project, it's a symbol of the energy industry's ability to recreate itself for a new low carbon future”
