At Hydrasun, we believe in the values of dedication, resilience, and teamwork that our service members bring to the table. By joining the Armed Forces Covenant, we not only pledge our support to those who serve but also actively work to create opportunities for veterans and their families. We are committed to providing a supportive environment that helps them transition smoothly into civilian careers in the Energy sector.
We are proud to be part of a community that acknowledges and appreciates the immense contributions of our armed forces.
Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment that acknowledges and understands that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, including the bereaved, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.
Its two principles are that, recognising the unique obligations of, and sacrifices made by, the Armed Forces:
- Those who serve in the Armed Forces, whether Regular or Reserve, those who have served in the past, and their families, should face no disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services.
- Special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given most such as the injured and the bereaved.
"Having left the Army some twelve years ago, I used my resettlement to gain employment in the energy sector, firstly with a maintenance support company, before moving to Hydrasun just over a year ago.
In my new role with Hydrasun, I am responsible daily for the day-to-day line management of the Integrity Assurance Reliability Division operational personnel (Surveyors, Flexible Hose Assembly & Small-Bore Tubing Technicians etc.). This can be closely related to commanding a section, platoon, or fitter section.
I left the Army as a Staff Sergeant, but it is the military traits that we are instilled with during basic training that are most valuable. The way we function at this basic level make us a reliable workforce that can adapt, work away from home, and follow processes and procedures.
Here at Hydrasun, we are committed to the further support of veterans, reservists, cadets, and the family of these groups. Having signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant and achieving the bronze award we have started a new journey." Iain Lee – IAR Operations Manager
"At Hydrasun, we are proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant and holders of the Bronze Award, reflecting our deep respect and commitment to those who have served. We actively seek to recruit ex-forces personnel, recognising the exceptional skills, discipline, and leadership they bring. Supporting their transition into civilian careers is a responsibility we take seriously, and I’m excited about the opportunities ahead to connect with and welcome more ex-service talent into our organisation." Craig Gorman – Recruitment Lead
What is the Armed Forces Covenant and what does it mean for Hydrasun?
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge to ensure those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families are treated fairly and with respect. At Hydrasun, this means we are committed to supporting veterans, reservists and military families through inclusive recruitment practices, workplace support and community engagement.
I’m a veteran - what kind of roles might be suitable for me at Hydrasun?
We value the transferable skills that veterans bring such as leadership, discipline, problem-solving and adaptability. Roles in operations, engineering, project management, logistics and technical services often align well with military experience. We encourage you to explore our current vacancies and apply for roles that match your skills and interests.
I don’t have direct industry experience - can I still apply?
Absolutely. We recognise that many ex-forces personnel may not have direct experience in the energy sector but possess highly relevant skills. We assess applications holistically and are committed to supporting your transition into a civilian career through training, mentoring and development opportunities.
Does Hydrasun support reservists and their commitments?
Yes. We understand the importance of reservist duties and are committed to supporting employees who serve. This includes flexibility around training and deployment, in line with our Armed Forces Covenant commitments.
I’m a family member of someone in the Armed Forces - can I benefit from this initiative?
Yes. Our commitment extends to the families of those who serve or have served. We aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment for all employees, including those with military family connections.
What is the Hydrasun Community Forces Network?
The Hydrasun Community Forces Network is an internal group that brings together employees with military connections - veterans, reservists, cadet volunteers and supporters. It provides a space for networking, peer support and raising awareness of Armed Forces related initiatives within the business.
How can I get involved or learn more before applying?
If you’d like to learn more about our Armed Forces initiatives or speak to someone with a military background, please contact us or mention your interest in your application. We’re always happy to connect and support your journey.
