Introduction
Over the last ten years, production competition by Operators, has led to traditional vertical downhole drilling methods involving static pressures employed by Drilling Contractors being superceded by the development of directional drilling and down linking technologies with negative pressure pulses and elevated temperatures.
Traditionally the popular Rotary Hose coupling design for steady high pressures has been the built-in epoxy coupling however it has been recognised that these do not hold up as well to the hammering effect of dynamic pressures and higher temperatures resulting from these new drilling techniques.
The need to address this area has been recognised by the US hose manufacturer Gates and this has led to the development of a high performance dynamic pressure rated assembly with swaged-on couplings that meets the demands of today's drilling marketplace.
Further to this Hydrasun recognised that whereas traditionally this marketplace was characterised by factory manufactured assemblies being shipped long distances worldwide on extended lead times there was an opportunity to bring this capability in-house to Hydrasun offering customers fast track turnaround and delivery of a wide range of finished assemblies within short lead times from an extensive stockholding of the required components for assembly.
In line with this Hydrasun has invested significantly in expanding our manufacturing facilities in Aberdeen, UK, whilst undertaking a successful "certified assembler" qualification programme with Gates in order to offer the UK and international marketplace Gates warranted and API approved Grade D & E oilfield drilling hose assemblies.
As the only Drilling Hose assembly organisation in the UK, Hydrasun can now offer an unrivalled speed of response to customer requirements whilst at the same time providing a high quality, high integrity hose solution that delivers operational reliability whilst minimising HSE risks.

- External Stainless Steel Armor shield can be applied over the hose cover. This provides extra abrasion & mechanical protection for the hose.

Technical Features
Gates Rotary / Vibrator Drilling Hose Assemblies (Grade D & E) are API 7k rated and far exceed minimum standards for pull & burst pressure tests.
In addition to a high quality hose construction, the Gates Swaged attached coupling has no seals to leak and no set screws to loosen with operation vibrations or epoxy to weaken with working temperatures above 180 degrees F.
