Hydrasun Participates in Subsea 7 Supplier HSEQ Day

Hydrasun was pleased to support Subsea 7 at their recent Supplier HSEQ Day at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre.

For the past 2 years Subsea 7 have held a Supplier Safety Day where selected companies have been asked to share their experiences of working with Subsea 7 to achieve HSEQ excellence. Over 250 people attended the event this year to hear more about the tools employed by these companies that contribute towards this success.

Hydrasun provided both a presentation on the Hazard Observations Scheme that operates within the company, and thereafter via an exhibition booth, were able to share more in-depth examples on how the scheme works with attendees who expressed an interest in learning more.

The Hydrasun Safety Observation Scheme was implemented in 2003 with the aim of highlighting HSE issues within Hydrasun and to encourage more employee involvement. Since the introduction of the scheme, over 900 issues have been raised by Hydrasun employees. As a result of the issues being reported a number of procedures have been implemented or amended to reduce potential hazards or incidents occurring. The increased awareness of employees and the improved safety culture has contributed to Hydrasun not having a Lost Time Accident in the last 12 months.

Paul Reid, HSE Manager said, “Hydrasun gladly accepted the invitation from Subsea 7 to participate in the Supplier Safety Day. Hydrasun viewed this as an opportunity to learn from our customers and to contribute and share experiences. The event was well organised by Subsea 7 and it was encouraging to see such a high attendance at a Safety event. At these types of events, there is always a new idea or concept that you can take away and implement within your own company”.

Ian Rattray, UK Commercial & Procurement Manager, Subsea 7 said “The intent was to inform the audience of the benefits and value gained from getting closer to our Key Suppliers like Hydrasun particularly in areas like health and safety but also quality which are vital for a Contractor like Subsea 7 in delivering its services offshore and increasingly with equipment involved in ever deeper waters around the globe”.
